Recently, I’m watching this HK drama online, despite the slow broadband connection. “The Mystery Files” or more widely recognized as 迷离档案 (in Mandarin), had its premier broadcast in 1997, starred by one of my favourite actor, Gallen Lo Kar Leung, Maggie Cheung Hor Yi and Nick Cheung Ka Fai, etc. I remembered that I was still an adolescent when I first watched this drama. Apparently, I was quite scared to watch it as the first few episodes were full of suspense and quite horrifying to me, who has a low tolerance level in viewing horror shows. However, the mystifying plots did not shut me away and therefore I was introduced to this brilliant show.
This drama remains appealing to me after years, and I have started to re-watch it when I found its availability at youku days ago. This production is marvelous, as expected, and totally worth-watching. The plots of the drama varied very much from one another, and involving the issues of reincarnation, superstition or spiritual beliefs, telepathy between twins siblings, charms, the 4th dimension and lots more. What has amazed me so much is that the storywriter of this drama is able to explain and resolve most of the alleged supernatural or extraordinary events, with the support of scientific theories or evidence. The crews of this show must have done massive data collection and preparation for the shooting, thumbs up to their good job!
Not to forget the incredibly well chemistry between the protagonists, Gallen & Maggie which had further added credits to this drama. Miss those days of watching their drama. Really looking forward to Gallen’s upcoming drama, with Myolie and Bernice, in year 2008…
